went to see van gogh’s exhibition at the philadelphia museum of art. some of his paintings made me wonder if they weren’t van gogh’s, would they have received any attention and admiration. however, taking into context the period when he painted his paintings as he did, it was very imaginative as mainstream creativity of that period went.
i was mostly taken by his brush strokes which made me think of carvings on wood blocks for prints. i wonder if he had a severe condition of astigmatism; and when he took his walks, i wonder if he walked with his eyes studying the surface nearly immediately below and in front of him, or low in the horizon. i was also taken by his limited choice of colors that he effectively used in his paintings.
